In 2014, five Black women’s Reproductive Justice organizations were tired of being on the defensive, having others speak for them, and tired of matching press releases and conferences to other organizations’ voices. They wanted a Black Reproductive Justice network that was policy-directed and could amplify and uplift Black women at the national, regional and state levels to engage in the ongoing policy battles around reproductive rights, health and justice. Thus, In Our Own Voice: National Black Women’s Reproductive Justice Agenda was born.
For the last ten years, we and our strategic partners have been fighting for the lives of Black women, girls, and gender-expansive people. For our tenth birthday, we’re asking for your help to continue our work for another ten, twenty, even thirty years and beyond.
